If you haven’t registered your presence already, you can build a free website with SiteRubix. It’s recommended for small businesses as it is free.  How to get the word out online can be quite taxing. You can successfully do this without spending a fortune or thousands of dollars on PR, advertising and buying your way in social media buying Facebook and Twitter followers. Here I’ll give you smart tips to get noticed without spending tons of money.

1.    Create your profiles on the Social Media Platforms

(Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+). Before taking time to launch any campaign, take your time to figure out the sites your target customers visit frequently. In our current age, most businesses are targeting the social media market but this does not mean that they are going about it the right way.
What is your opinion of someone that continually talks about themselves? Quite a nuisance, right? Well, that’s precisely what your audience thinks of your when you continually bash them with posts on your products or services. You can throw in some exciting stories relevant to your industry or rather some of the fun anecdotes regarding your office culture. However, remember not to overdo this either.
On social media also try to follow and interact with your industry’s influencers. You can create lists on Twitter on the market you are trying to reach and engage with them.

2.    Run an experiment with Instagram.

What are you waiting for? Take that leap of faith. Most businesses focus on registering their presence on Twitter and Facebook but do little or nothing on Instagram. This is a huge powerhouse. Instagram has over 300 million users globally. Each of these users spends close to half an hour a day on this app, and it would be a colossal mistake to neglect your presence on Insta.
Say you run a B2B company. You might be led to think that the Instagram’s platform is only relevant to bakeries, florists and other photogenic products. With Insta you’re likely to create an emotional connection with your customers: current or prospective. It’s also a tool for showcasing your company’s culture.

3.    Strive to own a domain that matches your relevant field.

If you have not done so already, secure a domain that sells you as a brand. Do not spend a fortune to get an exact match for the domain you are looking for but just ensure that the domain name in itself sells your brand. Your domain name however does not play any role with your rankings on Google so do not focus on stuffing it with keywords or anything of the sort.

4.    Build your own website if you have not yet done so.

There are very many affordable website builders at your disposal. You can create a free site and host it for free. Most domain sellers also provide hosting services. A website is just like a piece of real estate that appreciates with time. As you progress, you will have even more decisions to make regarding the marketing strategies to employ. However if you create a solid foundation and a website that goes hand in hand with the requirements of your customers, you will have a competitive advantage.

5.    After doing so, set up all the necessary pages on the site and ensure you post content regularly, at least once in a week. Centrally manage your posting on social media to reach a broader target market.

6.    Create fresh content.

The most way to boost your organic traffic is to create new material that can be shared. Google registers 65% of the traffic on the web today and therefore Google really values fresh content. However don’t make the mistake of writing for Google and forgetting about your audience. Once you create unique and easy to share content, it will go a long way selling your presence. Ensure your customer base can directly follow you on social media directly from your site.

7.    Guest Posting.

Earlier on, a guest post  shocked the web when it reached out to a million people. Of course, this should not come as a surprise as when your posts are published on well-trafficked sites; you are more likely to reach a broader market than your competition. Whether you are guest blogging or inviting other people to write on your website, doing so will lead to new links hence fresh traffic. Guest blogging just as SEO is one of the most effective methods to invite traffic. Another trick in guest writing, ensure that you only publish high quality and authoritative content so as to maintain a good rapport with your readers.

8.    Refrain from purchasing backlinks.

The most significant influencing factor on your site rank in SEO is linkbacks. It may, therefore, be very tempting to buy backlinks but before you do so, beware that it is a considerable risk. From how Google works, a link back to your site is equal to a vote of confidence on the web. Purchasing a backlink is the same as rigging a vote. The response Google gives is awarding a lower ranking in the search engines. This is not a risk worth taking.
The best option now would be focusing on building relationships with other reputable sites and search websites that may have mentioned your company in a post.

9.    Offer other influencers in your niche free products in exchange for reviews or mentions.

Starting out can be pretty hard. I know that. However, you can quickly start a buzz about your website or product by finding out the authorities in your field. Most website owners and bloggers take your sample and review it, and once a review goes up online, there’s a link back to your site giving you a headstart on Google and other search engines.

Good luck and remember the sky is the limit!

Very interesting, educational and easy to understand article on smart ways of marking your online presence. I have done the majority of these but can’t believe I missed doing the Instagram experiment. I have set up a profile on just about every other platform. Can’t really see how I missed Instagram. Big thank you for this one.
I have never used backlinks before but it is something that I am looking into doing the correct way. Also offering niche related products to other influencers is a magnificent idea.
Thank you for this article. It is a big help to me as I am trying to generate traffic to my website.

    Hello Otis,
I’m glad you’ve got something out of it. Just focus on quality content and natural traffic. With time you’ll notice other sites linking back to you as you gain authority on Google.

Hey, Dennis, I like the concise compilation you put together to help businesses create a free website and the best practices to go along with getting the most traffic (amongst other benefits). One thing I would recommend is that once a business or individual gets their site up and running is to make sure the site is secure (showing the SSL certificate i.e. https) in the URL. For all WordPress based sites, Really Simple SSL does the job perfectly.

    Hey Donovan,
Thanks for dropping by. The SSL certificate is very crucial for the working of any website. Security is key.
